What 3 things, if they are lost, you can’t get them back?

I was recently on a plane and the woman next to me was older and reading my journal over my shoulder. She said, “where did you get that, I want one.” It was fun explaining how it was mine!

Her next words were a question… or a riddle:

What 3 things, if they are lost, you can’t get them back?

Can you guess?

Time
Spoken Word
Lost Opportunities

She went on…

What are 3 things you can retrieve, but it will not be easy?
Trust
Respect
Intimacy

What are 3 things in life you can’t be sure of?
Dreams
Luck
Victory (winning or not)

What are 3 things that can ruin your life?
Drinks
Pride
Anger

What are 3 things that are very valuable for your life?
Love
Self Confidence
Friendship

It was lovely to talk with her… and I wrote it all down because I wanted to capture the wisdom she was sharing.

For that last one, I’d like to rephrase the question directly to you, what are 3 or 4 things you value?

I’ve written my values out before:

joy, connection, wealth and movement.

I deliberately look for and create joy every single day; and not just in moments but in how I actually spend my time.

I love staying connected with people near and far, and I even have a small tattoo based on the ancient Chinese proverb: “An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet regardless of time, place or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break.” The quote is more about lovers, but I have my own interpretation that it is about the people I’m supposed to meet, and of course having strong bonds with my family.

Wealth to me is more than financial, it has more to do with an abundance of experiences. It’s about having a rich and meaningful life.

And movement… the thing that probably makes me feel most like myself. I can’t say I was always this way, but I think that was because I didn’t value it enough.

I would let other things come first, movement was a “treat” or something I needed to fit in. Now, it’s woven into so many facets of my life – and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’m so happy when I put my headphones in and can do my first bit of deep breathing and start to be truly in my body. I also love helping other people figure out how they can add movement to their lives!!!

I’m a personal trainer at a gym in St. Charles County, Freedom Fitness. We have group fitness classes and I work with people 1:1 or in small groups.

If you don’t live around here, I also offer virtual training! It’s a 6 month guided strength program called Stronger Everywhere Training. Check out the website, if you’re curious.

SET is a transformative program designed to help you safely and progressively strengthen your body and mind. Join a supportive community, receive personalized feedback from a certified coach (that would be me!), and enjoy the convenience of accessible workouts.

If you value movement then let your actions reflect that. I know it’s not easy. This world is set up so we often feel like ping pong balls bouncing between innumerable tasks, incessant notifications and endless errands.

I get it. I really do.

I’m also here to support you and to say you can do this for yourself! Don’t let the chance to focus on your health be a lost opportunity. Remember that’s something you might not get back. See question #1. 😉

May you prioritize what you value. May you see movement as important. May you sit next to wise people on airplanes!

Many hugs,
Coach Laura

50 Is Here! How To Choose To See Your Own Strength

I’m so excited… my 50th birthday is this Wednesday. 🥳🥳🥳 Time is such an odd thing to comprehend. It’s fascinating how our brains can remember something so clearly from childhood or when a memory from 10 years ago feels like it happened “just yesterday.” We all know...
