Red Thread of Fate

The thread connects me to you.

Friends chosen as family.
Lifting up
encouraging.

A deep laugh, a shared tear
a warm hug.

Bonds of choice
that may not need
to be spoken of
or always acknowledged.

Just there.

Through time.
Despite distance,

Regardless of constant use
or during the spaces.

Memories made through
moments
big and small.

Grateful I can just be me.

… and you, can always be, you.

~~~~~~~
This poem is in honor of all of the people who have supported me and encouraged me. As I was preparing for my most recent speech competition, a dear friend said, “remember, we’re all rooting for you. We want to see you succeed.” A simple reframe ~ to think that people are actually cheering you on, not hoping for your demise (as your brain may tell you).
And so, a time to pause and give thanks for those who take time for a kind word or funny text, whether a long-lasting friendship or a new acquaintance.
Perhaps you were meant to connect with that person for any number of reasons. Those bonds of choice making life worthwhile.
Everything is Better when Lubricated
    I couldn’t decide what to write about this week, so I asked my mom if there was anything she was curious about that I could use as a topic. She gave me a good one!!! Her question was: Why do I feel so good after I stretch or do mobility stuff? What is...
