Do you know how to move out of fear and overwhelm?

Last Saturday we got back from vacation at the Jersey Shore. We spent time with family and friends, went on an adventure to Manhattan and I discovered how I can make anything I drink purple (it’s called Butterfly Pea Flower). 💜

I was glad to have Sunday for re-entry, until I sat down to make my to-do list and promptly felt overwhelmed and already failing even though it was 7a in the morning!

But I have a dailyish practice for this. So instead of barreling into all of it, I journaled. I hung out with myself for a little while and paid some attention to what was happening.

First I acknowledged my unhelpful thoughts and realized they were much harsher than I realized and it was full-on self-attack. I asked myself what I was afraid of – failing was the big one, screwing up my new program I’m creating, not showing up for my kids, messing up gym client plans.

The big thing I was afraid of was being lazy.

But I don’t live in fear. No, I don’t.

A better question:

WTF is this magic???

This is where I live.

It’s a game changer to shift that lens from fear to wonder.

I looked at my list and the day stretched out before me – what magic could I create? These are not “to do’s” – these are the moments that make up my life. What I do or don’t do isn’t the marker for me.

It’s not about making the day special or memorable or even joyful. It was about not taking anything for granted.

Where does child-like awe go?

How come we turn into workaholics who crave busy and need a vacation to relax only to come home and be more tense?

I like being mesmerized by (or at least to acknowledge) the simple things, the small wins, the actual day-to-day bits… the way my first sips of coffee taste, a breeze, a hug, the best sheets I’ve ever had in my life.

What is this MAGIC?

I know things can be tedious, hard and annoying. This isn’t trying to reframe the truth of those experiences. It’s about how you choose to see them and process life in general and how things land in your body – one encourages openness, the other is tight and brittle.

When you have wonder, you have power.

When you invite fascination, you’re the alchemist.

WTF is this magic???

Go and create your day. Look at something with a fresh, unseen perspective even if you’ve done it a million times before. Don’t take your breaths for granted.

May you be amazed. May you shift from fear to wonder. May you always see yourself as powerful.

Many hugs,
Coach Laura

P.S. Here’s a recipe I came up with on that Sunday when I was meal prepping. It will fuel you up with 28 grams of protein per serving (6 total)

Magical Egg Casserole
1 lb of ground turkey
½ tsp sage
¼ tsp marjoram
16 oz carton of egg whites
2 whole eggs
1 package frozen riced cauliflower & sweet potato*
½ tsp of thyme
Dash of cracked red pepper
Salt and pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350º Spray a 2-quart casserole dish (smaller than a 9×13) with avocado spray. (You could use a larger casserole dish, it will be thinner and make more servings so the protein will change).

Brown ground turkey with sage, marjoram, salt and pepper. Whisk egg whites and eggs together. Pour into a casserole dish. Add frozen veggies and spices, blend together. Add ground turkey and evenly distribute veggies and meat.

Cook for 35 minutes or until center is set. Voilà!

I’ve made variations of this with a kale and butternut squash combo. You could do spinach and red peppers. Or even add some small chopped frozen potatoes with sundried tomatoes! Feel free to change up the spices, too. The possibilities are endless!! What can you create??? 🪄

Forward this with a friend, if you think it’s a good message…
